Doolittle Communications

Frequent Questions

WHY SHOULD I COMMUNICATE WITH MY ANIMAL?

There are many reasons to talk with your animal companion.  You may want to discuss an upcoming transition in your lives, such as a move, an extended vacation, a "child" going to college or one arriving.  There may be certain issues that need to be addressed, like not using the litterbox, anxiety about loading in a trailer,  or why they just HAVE to sit in the front seat of the car.  You may want their input if you are thinking about getting another animal in the house.  Remember that they live there too and what you do affects them as well.  Many people just want to know if their animal friends are happy and if they have anything to say about the daily happenings of the home.  There are times when an animal is older or in pain and you want to know if it is time to help them transition.

HOW AND WHY IS IT DONE OVER THE PHONE?

Remember that this is telepathy and is done over distances.  I do not need to be there in order to talk with you and  your friend.  In fact, neither do you (as in a missing/lost pet).  I prefer not to do "house calls" as the animals have a tendancy to get excited with a stranger in the house  and I appreciate them at ease, focused and not stressed.  Oh, and putting the phone up to their ear does not help.

DO THEY KNOW WE ARE TALKING WITH THEM?

Absolutely,  sometimes they get very excited to talk and will jump around during the conversation.  Some will sit and stare at you, just to get the point across.  Still others will ignore you while we are on the phone because they have to concentrate on what they want to get across.  Again, it depends on the animal.

HOW DO YOU FIND LOST ANIMALS?

I happen to work with missing and lost animals while most communicators do not.  The work is very time consuming and can be heart wrenching at times.  It is not an exact science, nor is the work guaranteed.  When a communicator works a "normal" consultation, there is more or less instant gratification (i.e. the cat uses the litter box, the dog stops barking at the mail delivery etc.) whereas lost animals can take days to arrive home.  We ask the animal many questions about their surroundings, such as,  did they go up a hill or down, are they near water, did they cross a big road or if they are "stuck" and unable to get home themselves. It can be frustrating when the animal describes or shows images and you haven't a clue as to what they are talking about, this is the grey area of the interpretation.  Slow down, take a deep breath and listen to what the animal has to say.  It will make sense eventually.  I will never forget a woman who called me with a lost cat.  The cat told me that he was under the porch of a large yellow Victorian house not far away.  The woman told me that I was wrong, I was a crack pot and there was no yellow house in the neighborhood.  Well, 15 minutes later i received a phone call from this same woman apologizing profusely.  It seems that in the 10 years of living there, she had never noticed the large, yellow Victorian just 4 houses down (yeah, I know).  She had gone out to look just one more time and there was the cat sitting under the porch of the house just waiting for her to come get him.  The clues are there, we just need to slow down and picture them from the animals point of view, which can sometimes be from 6 inches off the ground.

CAN YOU SPEAK WITH AN ANIMAL THAT HAS PASSED?

Yes.  They will often come through during a consultation while talking to a current animal.

CAN I HAVE YOU SPEAK WITH ANY SPECIES?

Yes, although most of the consultations are done with domestic cats, dogs, horses etc. communicators can talk with any animal..wild or domesticated.  I have had clients consult with me about fish, turtles, snakes, bison, gorillas, birds..you name it.  Often people will ask me if I can talk with animals that do not come from an English speaking home.  The answer is yes.  I am not fluent in any foreign language, but telepathy knows no boundaries and I can "speak" in any language (as long as the owner speaks English or can understand my very broken French that is!)

CAN I LEARN HOW TO TALK WITH THE ANIMALS TOO?

When I was young, my favorite book was Dr. Dolittle, of course, and I wanted to talk to the animals just like he did..only more so.  He had a bird that helped, that was cheating as far as I was concerned.  I later learned that anyone and everyone has the ability to learn how to commnicate with animals.  I equate it to playing basketball.  You can pick  up the ball, toss it at the hoop and hope for the best.  You can consider yourself a ball player.  Then there are the Micheal Jordan's of the basketball world, who really CAN play ball because they embrace it and make it their life.  Most people are in between,  It takes someone to teach you how to do it and then LOTS of practice.  With communicating it also takes an open mind.  There are communicators who offer workshops and courses in order to help you learn.
It is most important that you remember that animal communicators are not veterinarians.  We DO NOT diagnose or prescribe for your animal friend.  We can only tell you what they see, feel, hear and think.  I repeat, we are not veterinarians.  If you think your animal is in pain or has something broken or is bleeding, do not call us.  Call your veterinarian.
